Hey everyone welcome to my first blog post!
So for my first blog post I thought why don't I go through my favourite spots for brunch, I would love to try out more places to add to my list but I am going to recommend some of my favourites for you...
Starting off strong with Middletown Coffee Co in Ballymena.
Arguably my favourite of all... This place is a brunch lovers dream, with lots of savoury and sweet options there is something for everyone! The cinnamon buns here are also amazing and fresh everyday which is another bonus... I love the vibe in here especially when I get in on a quieter weekday morning as there is usually a queue - which in my eyes is a plus (that's when you know it's good enough to wait for). They also serve Established coffee and Established chai, and for those who don't know what that is... Established is a coffee company and coffee shop up in Belfast which is also very close to the Ulster campus. I love the chai served at Established so that's why I always opt for a chai at Middletown. Also, look at that hot chocolate perfect for coming into the Winter time! The food here is delicious, I got the rhubarb and custard french toast and it was so so good. Their menu changes every so often so I would keep an eye out for what's next.
Okay so my second top pick has to be Brew and Bake on the Lisburn Road in Belfast.
If you are in the mood for brunch on the sweeter side, Brew and Bake is your best bet. As well as being a very aesthetically pleasing breakfast (hence my reference pic on my blog) it is actually as good as it looks! I got the cinnamon bun french toast, and when I tell you it is so good... it's the biggest understatement ever. Ryan opted for the white chocolate and blueberry porridge, as there weren't loads of savoury options at the time (I recently viewed the menu and the options look a lot better now for those who prefer a savoury breakfast). He did enjoy it but he's not really a huge sweet breakfast person so it wasn't his favourite. But I really enjoyed it, it's really up to preference. I think the menu has changed from when we got this and I saw they are doing a 'Bruce' cake french toast which sounds insanely good so hopefully I will get a chance to try that to give you a more up to date recommendation. P.S they release new [cinnamon] bun flavours every week!
Stereo on the Cregagh Road in Belfast is another one of my favourites.
I wish I got more photos on this day but I loved this place, it has a retro vibe and is also dog friendly! I was really excited to try Stereo as I kept seeing the Ferrero toast pop up all over my Tiktok and I was dying to try it. Ryan got the breakfast bap and he said it was the best he's ever had, and as a fussy eater that is a huge compliment. The ferrero toast was so good, I don't know what it was but it had like a really nice crunch to it where the toast is fried, it's hard to describe but the texture was perfect and overall it was a sensational breakfast! The coffee here wasn't my favourite but if you are looking for a brunch spot with exceptional food this is a great spot.
So my next honourable brunch mention is Cove in Glenarm.
So some of you might know that I do work here, however I'm going to give you my completely unbiased opinion. Cove is based in Glenarm and during this time of year (autumn) it's the perfect place to escape. I particularly love the forest walk during the autumn and it's just really nice to have somewhere to grab a coffee and some food after. I love the waffles which are perfect for brunch and also the cinnamon buns here are amazing. They are a Scandi style cinnamon bun with a vanilla bean icing and they pair perfectly with your morning coffee. You might even be lucky enough to get a coffee made by me! But seriously I really love the cozy vibe of Cove and there is lots of artwork and ceramics which gives this coffee shop a really nice quirk. Cove is also dog friendly!
